Madagascar Palm (Pachypodium lamerei)
Despite its name, the Madagascar Palm is not a true palm—it's a striking succulent with a thick, spiny trunk and a crown of glossy green leaves. Native to southern Madagascar, this architectural plant adds a bold, exotic presence to any collection and thrives in sunny, dry conditions.
Care Instructions
Light: Requires bright, direct sunlight. A south- or west-facing window is ideal.
Water: Allow soil to dry completely between waterings. Water sparingly in winter.
Humidity: Adaptable to normal indoor humidity; prefers dry environments.
Temperature: Prefers 65–85°F (18–29°C). Protect from frost and cold drafts.
Soil: Use a well-draining cactus/succulent mix with added sand or perlite.
Note: During dormancy, the plant may drop its leaves—this is normal and part of its natural growth cycle.
