The Parodia werneri is a beautifully compact, globular cactus native to southern Brazil and northern Argentina. Renowned for its rich emerald-green body and graceful arrangement of fine, golden spines, this species embodies balance and symmetry in its purest form.
Under bright light, the spines take on a subtle glow, and in spring or early summer, Parodia werneri bursts into bloom with silky, violet-purple flowers that crown the apex—a spectacular contrast to its soft golden tones. Slow-growing and naturally tidy, it’s a perfect addition for collectors who value refinement, structure, and color harmony in their cactus displays.
Care Instructions
Light: Prefers bright, direct sunlight. Outdoors, provide full sun. Indoors, place in the brightest available window or under strong grow lights.
Water: Water thoroughly when the soil is completely dry. During winter dormancy, water sparingly or not at all.
Humidity: Thrives in dry air. Do not mist.
Temperature: Best kept between 65–90°F (18–32°C). Protect from frost and extended cold exposure.
💡 Pro Tip: Use a gritty, fast-draining cactus mix with added pumice or perlite. Parodia werneri thrives in shallow pots with excellent airflow and strong light, which encourage compact growth and abundant flowering.
